### Ratio Rate and Proportion Post

Welcome to your blogs.  Your first post will be a wrap up of your proportion unit.  You need to have a review of all the work you have done.  None of this will be new.  Consider it the first chapter in your exam review!! Yep I said the "E" word EXAM!! It will also remind you of all the fantastic things you can do to make a blog post pop instead of being boring.

Setting up the post
Title your post _______'s Proportion Post
Label your post username817 (Bif817, Mortimer814 etc) and proportion post (two words lower case)

In the body of your post please include the following parts:

Part 1

• ratio
• rate
• proportion
Good definitions have pictures, words and examples.

Part 2
Copy these questions into your post.  Answer them using proportion statements.
1. 5 hours to travel 360 kilometers is about _____km/h.
2. Emma saves 28 cents of every dollar that she earns.  Emma earned \$75 last week.  How much money did Emma save last week?
Part 3
What are the three ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true?
3/4 = 12/16  or 4/9 = 16/32

Part 4
Find a video about using proportion and embed it in your post.  Make sure you select the small size of the video. (Bonus Marks if you make your own video about proportion and embed it)

We are starting to engage in discussions about social justice.  What do you think about this image below.  Use the link to copy it into your post.  Then answer the questions

1. Does this seem fair?
2. With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above.  Does it seem just and fair?
3. Why have you made this choice?
4. What would you have done if you were the judge?

Due Date Friday October 14th

On the October 1st post, there is a mistake. In the part 3 section, for the 2nd equivalent fraction, it says that 4/9 is equivalent to 16/32. But 9 doesn't go into 32. 4x4=16.9x4=36. So the correct fractions are 4/9=9/36, not 9/32.

I'm confused. It says it's due friday October 14, but October 14 is on a Sunday.

Jasonp2's Proportion post

Part 1

Rate-Comapres 2 numbers measured un different units e.g. if if 10 hot dogs cos 15 dollars how much will 1 cost

Ratio-A ratio shows the size of two or more values e.g. 1:8

Proportion-Compares The relation between things e.g. size quantity number

Part 2- a) it takes 5 hours to travel 360 kris about 72km 1h

B) Emma saves 28 cents per every dollar she makes she made 75\$ last week how much did she save 21 \$

Part 3 - what are 3 ways you can prove that equivalent fractions are true
1 horizontally 2 vertically and cross multiplication

Part 5 no it is not fair at all because they both stole but the homeless man only stole 100 dollars compared to 3 billion so that man that stole the 3 billion should get 15 years
what i know about porportion is that the homeless man is 54 so he gets 15 how old will he be when he gets out so i did this 54 +15 =69 so he might not be alive when he is out the year will be 2027

compared to the other guys is 55 and he get 44 months so that thats roughly 4 years so when he gets out he will be 59 so the other guy almost gets 10 more years than thing guy

I made this choice because even though they both did criminal activities one stole 3billion compared to 100 so thats not fair at all

if i was the judge i would have gave the homeless man 6 months because he did steal and the other guy 44 years

i forgot to do the other question about the kid in the woods how tall are the trees how many times would the kid go into the trees

1 the trees are about 7.5 cm on my ruler that 11 mm so the trees are roughly 13 ft tall because the picture gets cut of at the tip

now the kid is 5.5mm tall so he fits into the tree 2 times
